Positive Help is a well-established, third sector service provider – a registered charity – based in central Edinburgh. We have almost 40 years’ experience of supporting adults, children and families living with /affected by HIV and or Hepatitis C.

With the support of a cohort of trained and supervised volunteers, we provide a range of services to help people who have complex needs live fulfilling, healthy lives in the community.

We are now looking for a Temporary Children’s Services Manager with proven experience of working in a leadership role to join our dedicated team to provide maternity cover for the existing postholder as we further develop the organisation. We work from our centrally situated office in Edinburgh, although there is the option to work from home depending on business need.

The ideal candidate will have the skills and experience we need to help us deliver our children’s services – specifically Befriending, and Study Buddies Services - and the wider organisation effectively and efficiently and have a genuine interest in this very rewarding work.

As a member of our leadership team, you will play a key role in ensuring that children and their parents receive the right support from us and others timeously, and that volunteers are appropriately matched and well supported / supervised to maintain a high standard of practice and satisfaction.

You will be outcome focussed and have a keen interest in demonstrating the impact of services as well as working across boundaries and developing and sustaining positive relationships with internal colleagues, volunteers, partner agencies, referrers and a wide range of stakeholders.

You will have experience of managing or coordinating projects inspiring people to work together towards shared goals. You will be a problem-solver with an empathic approach, and excellent communication skills.

Our work can be challenging though highly rewarding. Therefore, you will need to be motivated, ambitious and self-organised, and be prepared to play a part in our on-going organisational development.

In return, we offer you a supportive working environment, 25 days annual leave and 10 public holidays (both pro rata if you work less than full time), plus an employer contributory pension scheme.

Our operational hours are 9am to 5pm. However, occasional work on Monday to Thursday (up to 6:30 pm) and Saturday (up to 3:00 pm) is required on a rotational basis as part of our telephone on-call rota to support volunteers. There are also occasional volunteer training sessions in the evenings and on Saturdays. All such out-of-hours working is planned and shared across the team.

Special events play a vital role in engaging our supporters, inspiring their support, and raising vital income for the charity. Throughout 2026 we have a range of events planned, including private dinners, receptions and large fundraisers in London and Edinburgh.

Special Events is an area of growth for the charity, and this is an exciting opportunity to work alongside our major donor team and senior volunteers and supporters to develop and deliver an engaging fundraising events programme.

Experience in Special Events is essential, ideally in a charity environment. The successful candidate will have excellent event management skills, experience of working with senior stakeholders, and the ability to deliver creative and engaging events to inspire donor support.

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Grants Officer to join NHS Highland’s charity team, supporting the work of the Highland Health Board Endowment Fund Charity, SC016791. The charity exists to enhance the physical and mental health of patients, social care service users, NHS Highland staff, and the wider community by funding projects that make a lasting impact.

As Grants Officer, you will be the main point of contact for grant enquiries, providing advice and guidance to a wide range of stakeholders but working primarily with internal applicants from within the NHS Highland workforce. You will oversee the full grant-making process, from initial enquiry and assessment, through to award, monitoring, and evaluation, ensuring that funding decisions are fair, transparent, and deliver maximum benefit.

You will support the presentation of applications to the Charity Committee when needed, as well as supporting robust financial reporting and compliance with NHS Highland policies and OSCR regulations.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll help shape the delivery of impactful charitable projects across NHS Highland.

What we are looking for

We’re seeking someone with:

• Demonstrable, relevant experience in grant-making and project management, preferably within a charitable or public sector setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise, train, and support applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and to present effectively to committees and groups. You will have highly developed written communication skills and will confidently manage situations where applicants are unsuccessful, requiring resilience, diplomacy, and the ability to decline requests with professionalism and tact.
• Excellent analytical and organisational abilities, with a meticulous eye for detail and the capacity to manage competing priorities.
• Confidence in financial processes, including monitoring budgets, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with statutory and governance requirements.
• IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ideally experience with grant management or CRM systems. The skills and knowledge to provide meaningful input to quality and process improvement tasks is vital.
• A proactive and flexible approach, able to work both independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of personal accountability.

This role will suit someone who enjoys balancing detail with big-picture impact, who can combine sound governance with compassion, and who is motivated by helping charitable funds achieve their greatest potential for our NHS and the communities we serve.

We are looking for a temporary part-time Administrative Assistant based in Edinburgh. He/she will be able to support our Executive Assistant/UK Office Manager in basic but varied administrative duties and should preferably have a Christian faith or at the very least respect our Christian ethos. The task is to provide high-quality administrative support across the organisation, particularly during busy Board meeting periods and in the absence of our Comms and Marketing Officer. This role ensures the smooth running of office operations, supports donor communication, assists with events, and helps maintain accurate organisational records and systems.
