Role

To assist with the sustainable development and growth of the organisation through successful funding applications, fundraising and the maximisation of other sources of income.

The VTO is looking for an enthusiastic member of staff to join our growing team who can drive and coordinate our fundraising efforts. We have three primary sources of income: - Grant Funding - Public Sector Partnerships - Income generated from fundraising activities (e.g. the Kiltwalk) The Fundraising Coordinator will report directly to the Head of Service and will also work with the members of the board through VTO’s Finance and Funding Subgroup. Day-to-day this will mean writing high quality funding applications and reports to funders, identifying and leading fundraising events and maximising income from fundraising opportunities. This is an externally facing role where you will have the opportunity to work with some of the fantastic funders that make the work of VTO possible. In the longer term the role will involve contributing to and delivering on the funding strategy of the organisation.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Assist the Head of Service to identify, research and explore new business opportunities, and at the same forecasting potential revenue aligned to the opportunity
  • Develop and manage our fundraising budget
  • Cultivate relationships with donors/grant makers
  • Organise fundraising events
  • Research possible funders in parallel with VTO funding strategy and report to Funding and Finance Subgroup
  • Identify and explore new fundraising opportunities and revenue streams, building effective marketing campaigns to maximise potential revenue
  • Complete high quality funding applications and secure funding to support VTO strategy and projected budget
  • Oversee and or complete funding reports in a timely manner and before the funder deadline for submission
  • Develop donor communication materials including newsletters, thank you letters and impact report
  • Attend conferences and events to raise awareness of VTO and its services as well as maximising networking opportunities
  • Liaise with other community and statutory organisations as relevant for the development of the VTO services
  • Work closely with the marketing subgroup to input to social media profile and general marketing materials to add value to business development opportunities
  • Any other duties as directed by the Head of Service

Person Specification

  • Third sector experience
  • Proven track record of relationship management
  • Sound knowledge of data analysis tools such as Excel and online fundraising platforms such as Just Giving and Charity Aid Foundation
  • Fundraising experience
  • Sensitive approach and ability to communicate on all levels
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to set own work plan and work to own initiative
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills
  • Strong reporting skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
