We are seeking Assistant Project Workers to join our city-wide Self-Directed Support Service and Service Centres located across the city. In this role, you will provide personalised support to adults experiencing or recovering from mental health challenges.

As an Assistant Project Worker, you will build supportive and trusting relationships with individuals, helping them achieve their personal goals and maintain their wellbeing. You will also demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills, ensuring that all personal planning guidelines are followed and that you work effectively alongside our key referrers and partner agencies.

While knowledge of the role and purpose of a social care worker is desirable, full induction and training will be provided. This includes training on the SSSC Codes of Practice, the National Care Standards, and how these frameworks apply to your role.

A qualification at SVQ Level 2 (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards achieving this qualification, is essential.

As these services are registered with the Care Inspectorate, you will be required to pay an annual fee to maintain your registration.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the values and attitude required to work with people who are living with mental health challenges and who may have complex needs and be able to work flexibly; some early morning, evening and weekend working may be required.

Do you have experience of working with vulnerable people and an understanding of alcohol and other drugs related harm?

If this is you, we have exciting opportunities in North East Edinburgh Service for experienced Lead Practitioners in the field of Alcohol and Other Drugs.

Thus full time role would be working Monday to Friday with the occasional evenings.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Practitioner, unlike other support roles, with Turning Point Scotland, no two days are the same!

You will be responsible for being the first point of contact carrying out initial assessments, building trusting relationships and ongoing keyworker support with communication an essential part of the role.

You will also be expected to work in a groupwork setting and/or provide Assertive Outreach to individual’s homes, GP practices and across multiple community settings in the North East of Edinburgh. You will be offering harm reduction advice and interventions to some of the most vulnerable and high-risk people who use drugs. These individuals may have had multiple non-fatal overdoses and are not currently engaged with treatment and or support services.

About You

You will have knowledge and experience of drug and alcohol related harm.

You will be passionate and committed and be creative in ways of engaging people, including home visits (alongside a colleague) offering support in the community. Making a difference to people’s lives, you will continue providing support until they are able to engage in more structured support within the hub.

The North East Recovery Hub offers a full range of drug and alcohol treatment and support services. We are a multi - disciplinary team comprising of Voluntary Sector, NHS and social work staff. We are based with our main office in Leith and working across our satellite location in Craigmillar.

Who we are

Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s national dementia charity. Our aim is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide support and information to people with dementia, their carers and families, we campaign for the rights of people with dementia and fund vital dementia research.

What you’ll do

Our Community Activities Organisers are vital in providing front line support. This includes:

Supporting individuals to stay connected to their local communities, engage in their interests and hobbies, and access peer support.

Developing ideas and leading the way towards exciting and new activities to promote brain health.

Our groups are community based and the Community Activities Organiser is responsible for the planning and delivery of all activities, ensuring reflective practice through our activity evaluations and feedback from the people we support.

What you’ll have

Successful applicants will have a positive approach to dementia and brain health, with a passion to make a difference. You will have good communication and computer skills, a caring attitude and most of all enthusiasm for the role. You will be confident in planning activities in advance and leading any volunteers supporting at your group.

Applicants must have a full and valid driving license and vehicle to be able to travel for this role (mileage and expenses are paid).

The successful candidate for this post will be required to provide proof of right to work in the UK and will also be subject to a PVG check through Disclosure Scotland.
