Elpis Trust delivers a person centred housing support service to 19 young women who are experiencing homelessness or are care leavers aged between 16-25 years. The supported accommodation is based in the Core service and satellite flats in the Ruchill and Maryhill area of Glasgow. Elpis provides a high-quality support service which addresses young woman’ identified and assessed needs and reflects the aims of the service to work within relevant organisational and statutory policies, including health and safety, employment and equality laws. This includes adhering to Scottish Social Services Council codes of practice, National Care Standards and contractual requirements. Staffs work closely with the young women to write up support plans and deliver an individually tailored service, utilising Ladders to Success and GIRFEC, SHANARRI Outcomes.

Job Purpose:

To have specific working responsibility at present for 19 vulnerable young women, 9 living in the Core building and 10 in scatter flats (to include mother & baby flats) in the Ruchill and Maryhill areas of Glasgow.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct support to young women who have experienced homelessness and/or have a variety of complex emotional and mental health needs.
• Provide support to young women in all areas of service.
• Establish a supportive relationship with each young woman, enabling them to maximise their own resources in order to improve their quality of life, and to assist each young woman to be as independent as possible in all aspects of their daily life, in line with their support plans.
• On a daily basis assist and support young women to carry out identified housing support tasks to ensure that they maintain and sustain their accommodation and be flexible and responsive to meet the changing needs of the young women, as well as the housing support service itself.
• Problem solve unexpected and difficult issues that may arise during shift and deal with challenging behaviour when lone working, use own initiative in order to support the young women’s complex issues, and make decisions based on current assessments of risk, following set risk assessments protocols and procedures.
• Resolve complex young women issues, involving discussion with colleagues and relevant agencies through reviews and meetings, ensuring correct procedures are followed.
• Risk assess young woman’s needs and actions and consult with appropriate people such as line manager, social worker, case worker.
• Complete and update all relevant paperwork including housing support plans, risk assessments and case notes for each young woman, complying with National Care Standards, SSSC Codes of Practice, GIRFEC model of outcomes (SHANARRI) to ensure person centred service delivery and to meet service aims.
• Complete regular health and safety welfare checks of the young women, the building environment and equipment, reporting and dealing with any issues raised during these checks.
• Inform line management of any areas of concern or significant change when delivering young women support, to ensure that appropriate risk assessment is undertaken.
• Carry out all duties in compliance with Elpis Trust’s policies and procedures.
• Actively participate in 3 monthly support, supervision and observation.
• Work closely with and with direction from the Duty Manager, to plan and deliver young women’s identified support needs.
• Work co-operatively as part of a team including attending and contributing to team meetings and work in co-operation with other members of the support team, as well as colleagues from other agencies.
• Communicate in a knowledgeable, confident and professional manner with external agencies, including social workers, case work team, commissioning team, carers and relatives of young women. This may include email, telephone calls, letters or face to face meetings.
• Communicate with other team members in a respectful and supportive manner in order to promote positive team work and cohesion.
• Ensure the young women’s views and wishes are central to your work and encourage a high level of young women participation.
• To actively participate in identified training, on-going supervision and performance development.

Note: Duties will be reviewed and modified in line with the exigencies of the service.

Knowledge, education, qualifications, competences and experience:

Essential:

• Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme.
• Able to meet registration requirements with Scottish Social Services Council, Health and Social Care at S.V.Q. level 3, or be willing to achieve qualifications within specified timescale.
• Have an awareness of relevant National Care Standards and their application to work practice.
• Understand and adhere to the Codes of Practice from Scottish Social Services Council.
• Willing to maintain and enhance own knowledge, practice and competency.
• Previous experience working in Social Care.
• Be registered with SSSC or apply for registration within three months of start date.

Desirable:

• Experience of working with vulnerable young women and an understanding of the issues and needs involved.

Thus full time role would be working Monday to Friday with the occasional evenings.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Practitioner, unlike other support roles, with Turning Point Scotland, no two days are the same!

You will be responsible for being the first point of contact carrying out initial assessments, building trusting relationships and ongoing keyworker support with communication an essential part of the role.

You will also be expected to work in a groupwork setting and/or provide Assertive Outreach to individual’s homes, GP practices and across multiple community settings in the North East of Edinburgh. You will be offering harm reduction advice and interventions to some of the most vulnerable and high-risk people who use drugs. These individuals may have had multiple non-fatal overdoses and are not currently engaged with treatment and or support services.

About You

You will have knowledge and experience of drug and alcohol related harm.

You will be passionate and committed and be creative in ways of engaging people, including home visits (alongside a colleague) offering support in the community. Making a difference to people’s lives, you will continue providing support until they are able to engage in more structured support within the hub.

Job Specific Description

This is an exciting leadership opportunity to bring together two pioneering and transformative services working with women experiencing homelessness in Glasgow: the newly developed Soft Edges and the established Connect Hub.

Soft Edges is a multi-agency government funded project, with Simon Community Scotland leading on the operational delivery, the aim of the service is to connect with women who have experienced barriers to accessing support for a number of reasons.

Soft Edges will be a co-produced and trauma-informed service built in partnership with women, supporting women that services struggle to reach. The Connect Hub offers a community based, drop-in model that prioritises flexibility, safety, and meaningful engagement and support alongside women experiencing homelessness in Glasgow City Centre.

A key focus of this role in the first six months will be to lead the co-design of the Soft Edges service alongside women with lived and living experience. This includes collaboratively shaping the full service offer - from outreach and housing pathways to staffing structures, job roles, and operational design. The successful candidate will guide an inclusive, creative and empowering design process that ensures the resulting service is grounded in the real needs, strengths, and aspirations of women that traditional systems and structures have historically struggled to serve.

Alongside this, you will provide strategic leadership for the Connect Hub, an established four-day-a-week community service for women, and manage a skilled multidisciplinary team across both services. You'll work in partnership with clinical psychology and partner agencies to deliver responsive, trauma-informed and relational support that creates meaningful change in women's lives and challenges systemic barriers.

This role requires a compassionate and strategic leader who can build trusting relationships, lead with compassion, support staff wellbeing, and champion co-production, all while ensuring services are sustainable, integrated, and impactful

Key Responsibilities

Strategic and Service Leadership

Lead the co-design phase of the Soft Edges service, working alongside women to define:

• The service offer and model of support
• Team structure and job roles
• Values, principles and practice approach
• Service spaces and operational approaches
• Ensure lived and living experience drives every aspect of the Soft Edges design, embedding trauma-informed values from day one.
• Sharing and developing the service alongside broader strategic partners across Health and Social Care Partnership
• Translate the co-design outcomes into a fully developed, operationally ready service for launch after the initial six-month design phase.
• Ensure services remain aligned with trauma informed and co-production values.
• Provide ongoing operational leadership of the Connect Hub, ensuring it remains a responsive, trauma-informed, and accessible service for women in Glasgow.

Team Leadership

• Provide direct line management to the Soft Edges and Connect Hub team, and leadership support to the Practitioner Psychologist and Assistant Psychologist.
• Work in close partnership with the Clinical Psychologist and Head of Service to embed psychologically-informed environments (PIE) and trauma-informed care throughout the service.
• Ensure the recruitment and onboarding of new team members for Soft Edges aligns with co-designed values and role profiles.
• Ensure all staff are supported through supervision, coaching, and reflective practice, in collaboration with psychology colleagues.
• Actively promote wellbeing, emotional safety, and professional growth within staff teams.
• Model compassionate and values-based leadership in all relationships and decisions.

Partnership and System Engagement

• Build strong and strategic relationships across sectors (e.g. housing, health, VAWG, justice, social work, mental health) to improve pathways and systems of care for women.
• Represent the services and Simon Community Scotland in local forums and multi-agency settings.
• Champion systems change through storytelling, influence, and collaborative working, informed by women's lived experience, creating space for women to shape service design. Support team members to have regular care meetings to ensure multiagency working alongside women - steering the need for stronger communication across both public and third sector organisations involved in a women's care.

Budget and Resource Management

• Oversee and manage grant funded budgets across both services, ensuring accountability, transparency and delivery.
• Lead on securing additional funding and income generation opportunities, in collaboration with internal teams.
• Maintain clear and accessible reporting to funders, commissioners and stakeholders.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning

• Oversee service monitoring and evaluation processes that are participatory, woman-centred, and deliver on outcomes for women.
• Collaborate with the psychology team and research partners to capture and share learning, impact and insight.

Wellbeing Scotland supports individuals to heal from trauma caused by child abuse through a support pathway derived from Judith Herman’s 3-stage trauma recovery model. Groups are an essential aspect of this journey and, due to career progression, we are looking for a highly skilled group facilitator to continue the development our group offer.

You will be responsible for the design of group interventions that support individuals who have experienced trauma because of child abuse, delivering these in a positive, supportive and compassionate learning environment. A key tenet of the role is to manage a participant caseload from referral to completion of group activity, including initial assessment, building rapport, setting boundaries and carrying out regular progress reviews.

Capable of gathering quantitative and qualitative data, you will effectively monitor, analyse and evaluate the impact of groupwork, utilising a range of evaluation and feedback mechanisms to capture and participant views.

As a member of our clinical services team, you will deliver of a high-quality service and collaborate effectively to contribute to the ongoing development, evaluation and improvement of Wellbeing Scotland.

Requirements

The Group Facilitator should have relevant qualifications and/or experience in trauma informed practice (e.g. counselling, psychology, social work, education, health, youth work, support work) alongside experience of contributing to service design projects, partnership working and developing new materials in line with the needs of individuals impacted by child abuse.

Desirable Skills - The post holder would benefit from a good understanding of issues and themes that impact individuals who have experienced trauma caused by child abuse.

Workers should possess well developed administration skills, knowledge of IT systems, be highly organised, a strong communicator and able to work autonomously whilst contributing with in a team environment.
