Breakfast and After School Club Manager

Role

We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced manager to lead our Breakfast and After School Club, supporting children aged 4-12 with engaging, high-quality care and play opportunities. You’ll oversee a team of around 18 staff, manage operations, finances, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support staff across breakfast, after school, and holiday clubs
  • Ensure compliance with Care Inspectorate and Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) standards
  • Develop and deliver engaging weekly activity plans
  • Maintain a safe, stimulating indoor and outdoor environment
  • Manage rotas, staffing levels, and absences
  • Monitor finances and support funding applications
  • Liaise with the Board of Directors and contribute to development planning
  • Ensure hygiene and food safety standards are met

Essential Criteria

  • HNC/HND in Childhood Practice (or equivalent)
  • Working towards or willing to work towards BA in Childhood Practice
  • Strong leadership and budget management experience
  • Knowledge of Care Inspectorate and Health & Social Care Standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in fundraising and grant applications
  • Knowledge of social media and marketing
  • First Aid and Food Hygiene qualifications
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs

Successful candidates must join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme, register with the SSSC, and provide two references. Proof of right to work in the UK is required.

Strathaven After School Club was established in 2000 and is situated within Wester Overton Primary School. The Club is a registered charity (charity number: SC205113). We are a non-profit making organisation and are overseen by a Board of Directors, all of whom have children attending the Club. We currently have children attending from Wester Overton, Kirkland Park, St Patrick’s, Glassford, Sandford and Gilmourton primary schools.
