About the Role

We’re seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join the Ramblers Scotland Strategic Committee (RSSC) as Ordinary Members. Whether you have experience of effective committee work or are keen to develop new skills, this is a great opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the future of walking in Scotland.

The RSSC plays a key role in overseeing our work, helping to shape strategic direction, guide campaigns, and ensure that walking remains open, accessible, and enjoyable for all.

As an Ordinary Member, you will:

• Contribute to strategic discussions and decisions affecting walking across Scotland
• Work collaboratively with fellow committee members and staff
• Provide insight and advice on key issues related to our mission
• Support our campaigning, policy, and governance work where relevant

This is a national volunteer role involving quarterly in-person committee meetings, with occasional online subgroup or ad hoc sessions. We welcome applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds, especially those who share our passion for walking, nature, and inclusive access to the outdoors.

While the role is unpaid, reasonable travel and subsistence expenses will be reimbursed.

The Junction is an award-winning charity that supports and improves young people’s health and well-being.

We work with young people aged 12 – 21 in North East Edinburgh. Our vision is that all young people thrive, with access to the right support and resources that meet their health and wellbeing needs.

About The Role

The Treasurer will assist and advise the Board of Directors on issues related to finance. The position works in partnership with members of the staff team who deal with much of the day-to-day financial business, predominantly the Director and Finance Officer. All Trustees collectively play their part in financial monitoring and decision making at The Junction.

Within the role you will contribute to Finance Sub-Groups (meeting roughly 4 times per year in advance of a Full Board Meeting). You will also share Finance Papers at full Board Meetings which take place 4 times per year. You can join in-person or online.

About You

We are looking for committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees. This is an incredible opportunity to make a difference to The Junction, to young people and to build your own skills.

A key requirement for the position is that you have experience of managing finances for a board, for committee, or for an organisation. Applications from qualified accountants and those with experience within the finance sector would be very welcomed but this experience is not essential to the role.

Ability to ask questions, share and uphold our organisational values (inclusive, non-judgemental and collaborative) and having the time commitment for the role is also key to the role.

About Fife International Forum

Fife International Forum is a leading third-sector charity in Fife that works with migrants, refugees, and partner organisations to provide holistic, professional, and high-quality services. We provide person-centred support, and deliver Employability Projects including the Pre-Academy, and thematic workshops addressing barriers to employment and tackling child poverty. Our services also include welfare support such as benefits advice, housing assistance, health and family support, as well as collaboration with partners on education, legal, and immigration issues. In addition, we run conversational cafés for New Scots to promote community integration and inclusion.

What Does a Trustee Do?

The Board of Trustees is integral to governing, shaping, and growing the future of our organisation and services. By working closely with the team, you will help ensure that the charity is solvent, well-run, and delivers charitable outcomes for the benefit of the people who need it.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Shaping and supporting the organisation's strategic direction.

• Overseeing governance, risk and regulatory compliance (including OSCR obligations).

• Championing accessibility and inclusion across Fife.

• Advocating for the charity in the wider community and supporting fundraising initiatives.

• Supporting our dedicated staff and volunteers in achieving their goals.

The board meet around four days per year. For some roles, further days may be added, up to a maximum of eight days per year – this is decided by the Chair and Trustees.

With exciting projects on the horizon in Glasgow, Dundee, and Edinburgh, the expansion of Movement Park marks a pivotal moment in our growth. To support this, we are seeking new trustees to join our Board who can help guide our future and ensure we continue to thrive as a valued community resource.

Roles available

We are looking for a new Chairperson and a Finance Trustee who can help us steer Movement Park into its next phase.

We’re also looking for trustees to sit on the board who have experience in law and governance; innovation and development; coach and volunteer education; AI and systems development; fundraising and income generation; marketing and communications; community engagement and inclusion; local authority or public sector partnerships.

What we’re looking for

Joining the Movement Park board is an opportunity to shape the vision and sustainability of a growing charity and influence strategy, growth, and impact across Scotland. You will be supporting projects in Glasgow, Dundee, and Edinburgh at a defining stage and be part of a committed team that values inclusion, innovation, and community resilience.

What the roles entail

All trustee roles are voluntary and require attendance at six board meetings a year. These are a mixture of in person and video calls.

All trustees share responsibility for:

• Setting the vision, values, and strategy of Movement Park.
• Ensuring sound governance and legal compliance.
• Monitoring financial health and approving budgets.
• Acting as ambassadors for the charity and promoting our purpose.
• Supporting and constructively challenging the leadership team.

Chairperson (specific role):

The key responsibilities of the chair person are to lead the Board in setting strategy and vision and ensure effective governance and board performance. You’ll work closely with the chief executive to provide guidance and oversight and represent Movement Park externally to partners, funders,and stakeholders. We’re looking for someone who can help facilitate inclusive discussions and ensure all voices are heard and support succession planning and trustee development.

Skills sought

• Experience chairing boards, committees, or senior leadership groups.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Strategic thinking with the ability to see the bigger picture.
• Commitment to inclusion and movement-based social impact.

Finance Trustee (specific role):

The key responsibilities of the finance trustee is to oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting and chair the finance sub-committee. We’re looking for support in monitoring financial risks and advising on mitigations as well as ensuring compliance with charity finance regulations. A trustee who can support decisions on investments and strategic funding and work with external accountants and auditors.

Skills sought

• Qualified accountant or significant financial management experience.
• Knowledge of charity financial regulations and reporting.
• Risk management skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to explain finance clearly to non-financial colleagues.
