Role
The Trustees of Development Coll are looking for a highly motivated, experienced person to be Coll’s Community Development Officer.
The post is funded through the Strengthening Communities Programme (SCP), a Scottish Government programme managed by the Development Trusts Association Scotland.
Remit: There are 5 outcomes for this 3-year post:
1. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
- Increased community engagement with DC.
- Action Plan created for next steps beyond this 3-year post.
2. HOUSING
- Community has better understanding of its housing needs and the options to proceed in filling them.
3. RENEWABLE ENERGY
- An Cridhe and Coll Bunkhouse have improved and additional sources of renewable energy.
- The community has a better understanding of large-scale renewable energy options.
4. AN CRIDHE AND BUNKHOUSE IMPROVEMENTS
- Development Coll understands the options and costs of adapting An Cridhe and Coll Bunkhouse to better meet the needs of the community.
5. COMMUNITY TRANSPORT
- The community has knowledge of improved transport provision options for the island. At least one improved transport option to be operational, if feasible.

Development Coordinator

Crail Community Partnership (CCP) is a charity established in Crail in 2018 and is deemed an anchor organisation for the many active organisations in Crail. CCP acquired Crail Community Hall and employs a Development Coordinator to support this enterprise.
CCP has acquired 4 property assets from Fife Council and plans to acquire more, so that the community can make better use of these assets. This requires the engagement of a Development Coordinator to help CCP complete these acquisitions and develop the beneficial activities that would support the Crail community.
PURPOSE
To primarily focus on the development of community and commercial activities in the Crail community (including the utilisation of CCP assets), creating a viable and stable operation that is sustainable.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES (not an exhaustive list):
- To develop an understanding of Crail community needs for social inclusion, service provision and other beneficial activities.
- Identify and pursue fundraising and commercial income opportunities
- Work in partnership with other groups and agencies to provide community programme for all age groups.
- With the CCP Trustees develop a strategy for balancing community needs and commercial interests.
- Support the Board in acquisition, development and management of community assets, St Andrew Road, Harbour Gas Works and West Quarry Braes (Common Good Land)
- To assist with management of community owned land at Pinkerton, Bow Butts, West Braes and Kilminning.
- Generation of sustainable revenue stream e.g wind, solar power on community land.
- Develop community infrastructure such as broadband connectivity e.g. implement Digital Fife
- Liaise with pressure groups and Government funded bodies seeking to expand and develop pedestrian and cycle routes.
- Prepare and report back to the CCP Board of Trustees
- Any other tasks as the trustees sees fit in relation to the overall purpose.

About MIN:
Maryhill Integration Network (MIN) was established to bring people seeking asylum, refugees, migrants and the settled inhabitants of Glasgow together. Since 2001, we have been developing projects which support positive social change by investing in communities and providing a welcoming - and much-needed - safe and inclusive space with opportunities for collaboration and connection. Our main services include a user-led weekly programme of activities, which runs alongside regular learning opportunities, community events, advice clinics and outreach partnership projects coordinated across the city. About the role:
The role feeds into the Human Rights and Citizenship theme within our Strategic Plan. This theme aims for MIN to continue to ‘develop a space which provides alternatives to hostile immigration policies’.
This themes’ objectives include:
- Advocating for those impacted by immigration policies with a collective voice
- Playing a key role in creating a more balanced dialogue around migration in the UK
- Supporting volunteers to be active and engaged members of the community
The outcomes we wish to see include:
- Fairer representation of diverse voices in debate and dialogue
- Increasing awareness of rights, and confidence in actioning these rights
- Improved collaboration between organisations working alongside people seeking asylum
Overall we want to see greater solidarity and respect shown to people seeking asylum in the UK.
The central duty of the Human Rights & Advocacy Coordinator is to coordinate the activities developed under the Human Rights and Citizenship theme. The activities include:
- Coordinating campaigns
- Advocating for rights
- Developing peer-support initiatives
- Contributing towards policy change
