Our long-term vision is to end youth homelessness, our more immediate mission is to ensure that every young person in Scotland has access to expert youth specific services to assist them to avoid, survive and move on from homelessness.

Working as part of our innovative Housing First for Youth Team, The Project Worker will work directly with young people to coordinate and provide emotional and practical support. Providing an assertive outreach approach the Project Worker will Work with young people to secure and manage their own permanent home, providing support in their home and in their local community to ensure that a young person’s experience of homelessness is rare, brief, and non-recurring.

The Project Worker will support young people to improve their practical independent living skills, access other services and to reach their full potential. Project Workers are responsible for completing support plans and risk assessments and are the main contact for any key people involved in the care and support of young people.

About the Walled Garden

The Walled Garden is one of Cyrenians public facing services, where we support people on Community Payback Orders to put back into the community and develop their own horticultural skills. Set within Dollar Park, Falkirk the garden is highly valued by the community, and is a home for events, volunteering and enjoying the tranquillity it has to offer.

About the role

As Community Gardener you’ll contribute to developing a creative and interactive garden. Your main responsibilities include:

• Designing a year-round plan for the Walled Garden

• Contributing to the growth and maintenance of the garden

• Supporting individuals on Community Payback Orders to engage with gardening related tasks

About you

You’ll be an experienced gardener with a genuine interest in people, gardening and working outdoors. You should also be:

• Experienced in seasonal garden maintenance

• Excellent at building trusted relationships

• Confident leading and motivating others

We are recruiting – come and join Scottish Families!

Due to the secondment of the current post-holder, we are recruiting a Young Persons Support Worker (Routes) to join our team and provide 12 month secondment cover. (Any further extension is dependent on funding).

Are you looking for a role where you can truly make a difference to young people’s lives? Routes is our youth work programme which launched in 2019. We support young people in East and West Dunbartonshire aged 12-26 years who are affected by family alcohol and drug use. You will play an integral part in creating a supportive and nurturing environment for young people, helping them to thrive in all aspects of their lives.

The post is predominantly located in East Dunbartonshire but will involve travel throughout both East and West Dunbartonshire for weekly groups. Some home working is involved. Due to the nature of this post, access to a car is essential. There will be a close working relationship with young people, schools and other local partner agencies in East Dunbartonshire. This post will be part of Scottish Families’ staff team and be managed by the Senior Family Support Development Officer – Young People.

The post-holder will support the delivery of Routes; ensure that young people engaged with the project are properly safeguarded and supported; co-facilitate a range of group activities with the young people; support young people to develop coping skills and strategies to help reduce the negative impact that other’s substance use may have on them; transport young people to and from groups, trips, and activities; plan, organise and facilitate trips and activities; and support young people to source and apply for Education, Training and Employment opportunities.

Applicants should be educated to HNC level, vocational qualification (level 3) or relevant experience; with an understanding of the emotional and developmental issues for children and young people. Experience of community-based youth work experience via employment or as a volunteer, and experience of delivering group work activities, are an advantage. We are seeking someone who is able to build rapport, positively engage and support young people; with the ability to listen and talk to young people from differing abilities, understanding and backgrounds. You should be available to work flexible hours, including some evenings (rarely beyond 7pm). Due to the nature of this post, access to a car is essential.

About Social Bite Village

Founded by Social Bite who partnered with Cyrenians to provide the support, the village provides temporary, supported accommodation to people who have become homeless. The village provides a home as well as the opportunity to participate in shared activities and opportunities. Our Community model is based on Cyrenians core values, prioritising trusted relationships and putting the person at the heart of the decisions which matter most to them.

About the role

Our keyworker will work as part of a team, and the wider social bite partnership, to ensure the village is a homely, welcoming and safe space. Your main responsibilities include:

• Working with residents to develop their own support plan

• Supporting residents to be active in the day-to-day activity of the village, including decision making

• Provide support and supervision to volunteers

About You

As a committed, compassionate and reliable member of the team, you’ll be able to develop trusted relationships with those we support and with your colleagues. You should also be:

• Experienced in delivering person-centred support

• A strong communicator with experience of working collaboratively

• A calm and encouraging presence, able to work at the pace of the individual
