About the role

Carers Scotland is seeking a Senior Employment Manager to lead our work in supporting unpaid carers in employment and employability. The role includes managing and leading the Carer Positive scheme and Employers for Carers Scotland. You should be passionate about supporting unpaid carers to enter and remain in employment, where they want to start or continue their career. A confident, self-starter you should have considerable experience of managing programmes and projects, as well experience of income generation, including preparing bids for project funding. A strong network within the business community and an understanding of employment practice would be an advantage, as well as experience in public speaking and training. A good team player is a must.

Carers Scotland runs the Carer Positive initiative on behalf of the Scottish Government, which supports private, public and voluntary sector organisations in Scotland to create carer friendly workplaces. We currently have 285 accredited organisations covering over 516,000 employees in Scotland. Our training and development work offers training in self-advocacy and carers rights to carers, as well as carer awareness training to organisations and groups across Scotland. Our campaign and policy work sees us engage with Scottish Government, Scottish Parliament, Local Authorities, NHS Boards and others to influence public policy and secure change to improve the lives of carers. We are looking for a Strategic Communications Lead to develop and implement our communications strategy, engaging a wide variety of audiences. Collaborating across teams, you’ll oversee media relations, storytelling, digital campaigns and stakeholder engagement to ensure MCR’s voice is heard by a wide variety of audiences and inspires action.

About the role:

The Strategic Communications Lead oversees a small communications and campaigns team to create, build and deliver spectacular multi platform campaigns and communications activities. The role is crucial in managing both internal and external communications, enhancing public engagement, supporting partnerships staff in mentor recruitment and supporting fundraising activity aligned with the mission of bridging the education, skills and opportunity gap for Scotland's most disadvantaged young people. The role involves strategic thinking, creativity, operational planning and delivery.

Key responsibilities:

- Develop and deliver an integrated communications strategy aligned with our goals.

- Lead media relations, securing impactful coverage and managing key relationships.

- Oversee content creation, including digital, social media, and campaigns, ensuring consistent messaging.

- Act as brand guardian, ensuring clarity and cohesion in all communications.

- Provide strategic advice to leadership on key messaging and public engagement opportunities.

- Powering our drive to be recognised nationally, and loved locally and regionally in the communities we serve.

You’ll have a proven track record in strategic communications, media relations, and campaign delivery, ideally within the charity sector. A skilled communicator and collaborator, you’ll bring creativity, adaptability, and a passion for delivering positive change for young people. What is the role

To provide administration support in all aspects of the Volunteering Team’s function. Working with the Head of Volunteering to provide high quality administration support and to build strong relationships, with internal and external customers, ensuring that high levels of service are provided. As a Volunteering Team Administrator you will oversee all administrative aspects of the volunteer recruitment process, including interview arrangements, onboarding, volunteer agreements and all other correspondence. You will co-ordinate all aspects of the disclosure and PVG application and renewal processes; providing support and advice to volunteer line managers.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Volunteering Team as a Volunteer Team Administrator, working 17.5 hours per week.

Work pattern: Flexible on days and core hours. We would welcome a conversation with the successful applicant about how these are worked to best suit the needs both of VSS and the successful candidate.

We are looking for a dynamic, driven, and motivated individual with the ability to plan and organise a workload with shifting deadlines to meet specific targets, ensuring quality output. Someone with the ability to think in innovative ways and skilled at problem solving, demonstrate experience of using digital approaches in your area of work, proven skills in communication and working collaboratively; building professional relationships and first class communication and customer service skills.
