The Kings Church, Motherwell, are looking to appoint a dynamic Young Persons and Children’s Worker to support and further develop our Youth and Children’s Ministry. They should be a passionate follower of Jesus who wants to make a real difference in the lives of young people in our church and local community.

The Kings Church is an independent, charismatic church, which was first established in the Lanarkshire area over 35 years ago. Over this time, we have grown into a multi-racial, multi-generational church that encourages people from all backgrounds to come together to love God and to love people. Our young people and children play a central role in the life of the church and the appointee should share our passion for creating a safe and nurturing environment, where our young people can develop a meaningful relationship with Jesus and lasting friendships with their peers.

The Young Persons and Children’s Worker will be part of the Operations Team within The Kings Church, and they will be supported by a mentor from within the Church family. They will work closely with the current team of volunteers across both the Youth and Children’s work.

Leading our work involves growing, developing and maintaining the brilliant employer and education partnerships that deliver the Career Ready programme, which includes the Local Advisory Board, the Local Authorities (key sponsors), schools (we have a Career Ready coordinator in each school), the Developing the Young Workforce Regional Group, and the many employer organisations and their people who volunteer as mentors, provide quality paid internships and deliver engaging masterclasses.

By assimilating what, why, when and the how of our work, you will be able to:

Lead and develop our Career Ready partnerships in Dundee and Perth & Kinross, optimising the programme experience for all stakeholders and securing ongoing or new employer support for the growing number of students each year (c.64 in Dundee and 50 in Perth & Kinross) who participate in the 18-month long Career Ready programme annually.

Lead programme delivery, stakeholder engagement and business development by working closely with the Career Ready Dundee and Perth & Kinross Local Advisory Board; Leanna Sinclair, Partnerships Development; Janine McFarland, Head of Programme & Operations; and the Career Ready Regional Manager and Scotland Operations team on a continuous improvement agenda that is focused on quality, impact and sustainability underpinned by attention to detail with efficient and effective processes.

• £34,000 – £37,500 DOE (pro rata)
• A working from home allowance of £300 (pro rata) pa is provided
• 33 days holiday (pro rata) plus 2 additional days in the summer. In addition, Career Ready is closed between Christmas and New Year and the time off is not taken from annual leave entitlement

Thanks to the commitment and generosity of our supporters, the Scottish Bible Society (‘SBS’) is a charity that helps individuals and communities in over 200 countries and territories around the world to receive Bibles in a language they understand and in a format they can use. We are creative in supporting churches in Scotland to keep the Bible central and encourage meaningful engagement to deepen encounters with God. The range of projects we either initiate here or support around the world is extensive. Teaching people to read using the Bible, helping to heal the wounds of trauma in Bible-based support groups and ensuring Bibles are kept affordable in rapidly growing churches are just a few examples of transformative projects we support.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys administrative duties to work across a variety of teams within SBS. Someone, with any eye for detail, who can help ensure the books and records of the charity are accurately maintained by assisting in a number of financial and supporter-based tasks.

• Full-time role based, primarily, at Bible House, Edinburgh near Haymarket train station.
• Although there is no Faith requirement associated with this role, there is an expectation that there will be respect for the Christian ethos of SBS.

The Camas Co-ordinator is responsible for the day to organisation and management of the Centre and, under the guidance of the Community Life Committee, its strategic development.

Camas has a core Resident Staff Team of up to 10 (Co-ordinator and 9 Resident Staff Team Members) and up to 5 volunteer staff at a time during the guest season.

The Camas Coordinator will have specific responsibility for

• Ensuring the vision and strategy of the Iona Community is visible and is developed through the community life and programme of the Camas Centre.
• Line management and support of the Camas Resident Staff Team and the Volunteer Team.
• Preparing and managing the centres income and expenditure to ensure that budgetary targets are met.
• Ensuring and developing personal and spiritual practices at Camas to reflect the Iona Community’s Christian ethos and commitment to justice and peace.
