We are looking for highly motivated Sports/ Community activity based person who has experience of some or all of the following with the desire to use this opportunity to operate the faciltiies to make a differnce in the lives of the local communities and deliver a sustainable long term business model that is financially and socially successful. The role will be expected to be flexible in working hours and shift work to support the staff and customers at nights and weekends when required

• Good building Facilities management experience
• Communication, influencing and time management skills
• Sport and Community Development Management experience (preferable but not essential)
• Strong commercial decision making and negotiation skills
• Budget Management
• Ability to communicate financial information in a concise manner with recommendations
• Strategic formulation and implementation, ability to review long-term impacts of plans
• People Management skills for both direct (where applicable) and indirect staff and customer
• Funding Application experience (preferable but not essential)

To effectively manage, develop and promote the community hub by working to develop sporting and community engagement programmes through the provision of committed personnel and funding resources whilst maintaining the facility in best condition

Newmilns Snow and Sports Complex is a dynamic and evolving organisation dedicated to changing people’s lives. As the only UK Charity Ski Slope, we are proudly different.

Using the power of the great outdoors and a ‘sport for change’ model we develop confidence, motivation, and employment skills through snow sports. We work with children and adults, schools and youth groups delivering employability, personal development, volunteering, and training opportunities at our rural, East Ayrshire site.

The most direct benefit of our work is delivered to disadvantaged or hard to reach groups. The post holder will be responsible for developing and delivering training courses/sessions to enable the EASE Project end users (AFTAR/CAB tenants of five partner Housing Associations, located throughout North Lanarkshire) to empower digitally excluded clients to claim online benefits, grants, offer IT sessions and employability sessions. The post- holder will have responsibility for planning group training sessions as well as one to one coaching sessions for the end users in their own home, or at community based venues or at partners’ premises. Learning will be evaluated through client user surveys and other feedback.

Owing to the flexible delivery nature of this project, a clean current driving licence and use of a car is required for this post.

Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to come and join our team as a Senior Practitioner based in our new Chestnut Wynd house for young people. Situated in West Granton, our newly-built house provides a safe and nurturing home for up to five young people aged 15-21 and a range of modern facilities and wellbeing spaces designed to help them grow, develop and make a successful transition to young adulthood.

As part of a team you will work closely with the young people we live alongside to provide the daily care and support they need and the advice and guidance to manage their health and wellbeing, independent learning and living skills, education and training needs. Our house staff also work closely with our community-based team to provide additional 1:1 and group supports to young people and to further develop their social and community connections. We work together with families, social work, health services and other colleagues to keep the strengths, aspirations and voice of the young person at the heart of all we do while ensuring their safety and welfare is always maintained.

A Senior Practitioner is a hugely important role for us. As a key part of our team you contribute to creating a culture of nurture and care for our young people while also ensuring the house is maintained and resourced to meet the needs of young people and staff.
