This is an exciting opportunity be part of the Children 1st Edinburgh Family Wellbeing Service. We work alongside children, young people and their families, building strong and trusting relationships to ensure they are safe, secure and achieving at home, in school and included in the community.

The Community Engagement role will ensure the voices of those most disadvantaged families across our city i.e. care-experienced families, ethnic minority populations and those living in areas of multiple deprivations are listened to; that their stories and lived experiences are heard, included and influence the wider story of our city and all who live here.

As part of our team you will lead on the development and delivery of peer support networks; work with children and families and recruiting and supporting volunteers and peer mentors to develop new opportunities to enhance links within the local community.

We are looking for someone who recognises the importance of relational and participatory practices to enable children, young people and families to have their voices heard and represented.

Successful candidates require an understanding of the contemporary local and national social policy context and complex needs of vulnerable and marginalised children and families. You will be able to demonstrate an ability to use group and community-based approaches to get alongside children, young people and families and lead in the development of volunteer and peer mentoring support.

If you have experience of working with children and their families and have a professional qualification in a relevant area such as Community Work, Social Work, Teaching, Child Care/Social Care or related area, accredited counselling qualification, or other relevant qualification at SCQF level 9 or higher then we want to hear from you.

Full time 35 hours per week.

Hours to be worked flexibly to suit the needs of the service and the school (evenings and occasional weekends will be required)
