Role

Today, Ochil Tower School is a thriving educational and residential community, where 27 children and young people, aged 8-21, with special and complex additional support needs live, learn and grow together.

The aim is always to create a beautiful and calm experience. Ochil Tower School is set in seven acres of stunning Perthshire countryside. This enables its children and young adults to feel more relaxed and better able to forge relationships with peers and staff. They are then more able to build self-esteem, confidence and their capacity for resilience.

The School provides excellent care and education and is not short on ambition. In October 2018, it opened a new Life Skills Centre. This facility is for young adults aged 18 – 21 and is designed to help them so that they are better prepared for the challenges of living an independent adult life by developing their skills in learning, life and work. Ochil Tower School is now focussed on extending the residential provision to 52 weeks. The Board of Trustees have a commitment to further enhancing and developing their residential houses and plans to build new educational facilities for the school.

Ochil Tower School is now looking for a Registered Care Manager who will form a key part of the care team, working under an experienced and ambitious Head of Care. The Registered Care Manager will work to oversee the delivery of high quality care in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, including the care inspectorate. You will be responsible for the smooth and efficient management of the four on-site houses as well as being a supportive line manager to the four house coordinators. The Registered Care Manager will be heavily involved in making operational decisions. The ability to lead and influence others and negotiate positive outcomes is crucial to this role.

The Registered Care Manager will have significant experience doing a similar role in a similar setting. We are ideally looking for someone who has experience of working with children and young people who have special or complex support needs. You will have a clear understanding of the principles and the operational implementation of safeguarding and child protection legislation and guidance. As Registered Care Manager you will bring substantial management experience in children’s residential care, alongside a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management or willingness to work towards it. Equivalent qualification in Health, Social Care or Social Work will be considered.
