Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) is the National Development Body for Scotland’s museums and galleries sector – this includes 440 museums and galleries of all sizes and organisational types. MGS is looking for a Grants Manager to support the sector to achieve the aims of the National Strategy through managing and developing Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS)’s grants programme. The Grants Manager will lead on delivery of the grants programme, including development and implementation of new funding streams and developing our grants to become more inclusive. You will bring significant experience of grants administration, fund design and management with a keen attention to detail. You will support and deliver excellent customer service to grant applicants and will be expert at working with databases. Strong communication skills and collaborative working are an essential part of the role, as is the ability to support and motivate a team. You must be confident at managing your workload and that of your direct reports, collaborating across the team to ensure appropriate support and communication.

Highland Print Studio is looking for Board Members and would encourage applications from a range of backgrounds. We are seeking to recruit new Board Members (Trustees) to join in overseeing and developing the work of Highland Print Studio. We are also looking for a new Chair to provide leadership and oversee the governance of the organisation.

We are an open access facility providing opportunities for professional artists and the general public to engage in the creative experience of printmaking or digital imaging. We are proud of our track record in providing opportunities for artists to develop their practice and our Studio classes and outreach education programme for individuals, schools and community groups which reach new audiences and show how engaging in visual art can enrich people’s lives.

What you will bring

We have identified a broad set of skills that will bring value to the Board and are particularly interested in applicants with the following expertise and experience:

• Business management;
• legal
• property management;
• sales strategies (including online);
• health, education or youth work;
• environmental and climate change approaches;
• and knowledge or appreciation of the visual arts would also be of value.

We are also keen to recruit younger members and people reflecting the widening cultural diversity of the Highlands. For the Trustee positions, previous experience of being on a board would be an advantage but is not essential as training will be provided. For the role of Chair, previous board and management experience is required and an understanding of charity governance desirable.

The Trustee role:

You can expect to attend a minimum of four Board meetings per year in Inverness, plus the AGM, annual planning meetings and Board Development sessions. We also have themed sub-groups to direct our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and our Environmental objectives which Trustees are encouraged to join. Meetings are generally held in person in the evenings at the Studio although online or hybrid meetings are an option. Trustees are expected to have read the papers issued in advance and contribute their ideas, opinions and recommendations. These are non-executive positions without remuneration. All appointments are made at the discretion of the Trustees with due consideration to the skill mix and balance required.

Out of the Blue Arts and Education Trust is an arts social enterprise with wholly owned trading subsidiaries operating the Drill Hall cafe and the Bongo Club. We are looking for a new board member with financial and accounting expertise, commensurate with the governance of a growing organisation in the top decile of Scottish charities.

Skills and Expertise

Out of the Blue (OOTB) is currently going through an exciting period of development, extending our provision of studios and creative opportunities within Edinburgh. Consequently we are looking for additional expertise on our voluntary board of trustees.

Specifically we are looking for someone who will provide oversight and leadership in the analysis of the group’s finances and financial reporting.

In addition to financial acumen we expect that a new board member will have an interest in and commitment to OOTB’s purpose and values.

About Out of the Blue

OOTB is an arts and education charitable social enterprise based in Edinburgh which provides opportunities for creative participation. OOTB generates space and community for local artists and collaborates with artists in all media from all over the world. We provide a combination of affordable studios, rehearsal rooms, performance venues, exhibition space in 6 buildings in Edinburgh.

OOTB also run a cafe at our base in the Out of the Blue Drill Hall in Leith. We initiate participatory art projects with the local community and beyond, and develop hands-on training, jobs and enterprise, such as Out of the Blueprint.

We have two trading companies, wholly owned by OOTB – The Bongo Club and OOTB Productions and are currently reviewing our company structure to accommodate our development of Abbeymount Studios, where we have an opportunity to redesign, repair and fully utilise a listed building within Edinburgh’s World Heritage Site for artist and community benefit.

About the Board of Trustees

The board meets 6 times a year and trustees are expected to join one or more of our board committees, covering – finance, strategy, risk, and staffing.
