Role
North Lanarkshire Women’s Aid (NLWA), based in Cumbernauld, provides a specialist support service to women, children and young people who are experiencing domestic violence in the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth area.
Following a period of development and reprioritisation initiated by the Board in late 2022 we are now seeking a Manager who will continue this work, provide strong leadership to a committed and enthusiastic team and an excellent standard of service delivery to enable women, children, and young people to live free from domestic abuse.
The postholder will have a background managing crisis services, ideally with Women's Aid experience, and will be able to demonstrate a commitment to feminist values.
She will work with the Board to develop a strategic plan, identify and secure ongoing funding and work in partnership with local organisations to support the delivery of North Lanarkshire Council's strategic objectives addressing gender based violence.
NLWA is funded by the Scottish Government's Equally Safe Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund.
35 hours a week, 9.00 a.m. - 4.30 p.m. (inc 30 minute unpaid lunch break) Monday – Friday
Evenings and weekends as required on a rota basis to provide on-call support to women in our refuge accommodation. An additional payment is made for this.
As the successful applicant you will be able to demonstrate a high degree of motivation and organisation, have the ability to lead and develop a team and to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the service. You will also have a passion for improving the lives of families who have experienced abuse.
You must hold, or gain within 18 months of appointment at your own expense and in your own time, the appropriate practice and management qualifications to enable registration with the SSSC as the Manager of a Housing Support Service. Post holders will ideally have exceptional leadership and management skills to steer our strong, committed, and skilled outreach team; strong communications, influencing and negotiating skills; experience of working with Black Minority Ethnic (BME) communities. Must have sound knowledge and understanding of equalities issues and the issues affecting BME and/or LGBT women, children, and young people, understanding of the legislative and cultural issues surrounding Gender-Based violence, domestic abuse, honour-based abuse such as forced marriage and female genital mutilation, and their effects on Black Minority Ethnic women, their children, and young people.
Bilingual in Urdu/Hindi/Arabic/Cantonese/Bengali (or any other BME community languages) and fluency in English.
Applicants must have relevant qualification such as degree in Social Work or Community Education and or a minimum of HNC Social and Health Care and SVQ Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF Level 9 or above to meet registration requirements of SSSC or a willingness to self-fund and gain the qualification.

MARAC Co-ordinator (Falkirk)

Committed to Ending Abuse (CEA), formerly Falkirk & District Women’s Aid, is seeking to recruit a part-time Marac Co-ordinator. Marac is a multi-agency risk assessment conference which is a process that identifies the highest risk victims of domestic abuse. The purpose of this role is to co-ordinate the Falkirk Marac meetings, conduct research, and create reports for the Marac and ensure all actions are undertaken to safeguard victims from serious harm or homicide.

Independent Domestic Abuse Advocate (IDAA)

Committed to Ending Abuse (CEA), formerly Falkirk & District Women’s Aid, is seeking to recruit a full-time Independent Domestic Abuse Advocate (IDAA). CEA Ltd operates an integrated three-stage trauma recovery model and whilst all staff are expected to work across these areas, the particular focus of this post is Stage One Crisis Recovery. The purpose of which is to keep women, men, and their children safe, free from further serious harm/homicide and to enable recovery from Trauma.
The purpose of this post is to provide an independent advocacy service to women, men who have experienced domestic abuse and are assessed to be at very high risk and possibly at risk of repeat victimisation and have therefore been referred to the MARAC (Multi-agency Risk Assessment Conference).
The post holder will work directly with clients, in conjunction with MARAC colleagues, on a short to medium term basis. They will also formally advocate for individuals within professional advocacy settings providing a true reflection of the views and wishes of the clients they represent to ensure a coordinated community response.
The postholder will also carry a caseload of those clients who are at high risk but not currently within the formal MARAC process.
Key to the role will be supporting women, men in their initial crisis for an intensive time limited period and providing safety planning, practical, emotional, and signposting support.

Women’s Aid South Lanarkshire and East Renfrewshire are a charity registered with the Office of Scottish Charity Regulator, we are set up to provide support to women, children and young people with experience of domestic abuse.

The role is varied and fast paced. The successful candidate will therefore have to be able to prioritise tasks and manage competing priorities as well as a methodical and well-organised approach to workload. Attention to detail is essential. This is a stand alone position reporting to the HR & Business Support Manager.
All candidates must demonstrate knowledge/experience of the causes and issues relating to domestic abuse and the ability to advocate Women’s Aid South Lanarkshire and East Renfrewshire’s feminist philosophy and mission which underpins all our work.
