ICAS Cares is a dedicated charity providing confidential emotional, practical and financial support to past, present and future members of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), as well as their families and dependants. What’s the job?

We’re seeking a proactive and compassionate Charity Manager to lead our day-to-day operations and drive our mission forward.

You’ll manage finances and governance, assess applications for support, and actively promote our services within the ICAS community. Reporting directly to the Chair of Trustees, you will also oversee our Outreach Coordinator and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of ICAS Cares.

This is a flexible, impactful role for someone who is passionate about supporting others, self-motivated, empathetic, and organised to lead.

Who do we need?

You must be a qualified accountant with experience in financial management, reporting, and the charity sector. Essential skills include excellent organisation, empathy, communication, and interpersonal abilities, as well as proven budget management, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team and thrive in a flexible role.

Knowledge of information management, data security, Xero accounting software, and the welfare system is desirable.

The role requires a PVG check via Disclosure Scotland, and the ability to securely manage confidential files, with access to a printer and shredder when working from home.

Amisfield Preservation Trust provides a regenerative community space (Amisfield Walled Garden) just outside of Haddington for a wide range of groups. The project is community-led by volunteers working alongside two paid workers. Since project inception, volunteers have recreated a beautiful, historic and peaceful 8 acre walled garden which had fallen into disrepair.

The central aim of the trust is to create a beautiful garden which enhances the wellbeing of visitors and volunteers. The garden helps improve the life chances of those most vulnerable in our community, through support for individuals with barriers to employment ; drives inclusion through involving volunteers with a range of additional support needs; promotes learning through educational activities for school groups with their teachers, and for the general public through a variety of training events; helps the community to flourish through increased social connection and regenerative activities that improve mental / physical wellbeing , resilience and help increase pride in the local community and place. Job Role:

The Board of Amisfield Preservation Trust are keen to increase access to the garden by extending the opening hours over the weekend during the summer months. We are looking for a reliable, flexible, self-motivated and organised person who can manage the opening and closing of the garden during the weekend and on Tuesdays. They would be the point of contact for visitors. The postholder will also work alongside the Garden Coordinator for a half day during the week (Monday to Friday) to ensure they are aligned to the vision and values of the garden, and to communicate any concerns, questions, etc to the Garden Coordinator.

This post is offered on a fixed contract of six months (1st April 2026 to 30th September 2026). The role will be reconsidered by the Board during late 2026 with the possibility of being opened for application in 2027.

The opportunity

We are seeking new Board Directors who share our commitment to justice, rights, and empowerment. As a Director, you will play a vital role in shaping strategy, strengthening governance, and ensuring our work has lasting impact.

Previous Board experience is not essential—we welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds, skills, and lived experience. We are particularly interested in candidates with knowledge or experience in:

  • Governance and organisational leadership
  • Finance (including an applicant for the Treasurer role)
  • Fundraising and understanding of the NGO/funding landscape
  • HR and compliance
  • UK policy and systems that shape migrant and community wellbeing

Commitment

This is a voluntary, non-executive role (reasonable expenses reimbursed). The time commitment is around 29 hours per year, covering meetings, preparation, and occasional reviews. Meetings are mainly online, with one in-person meeting in Scotland annually. Every five years, Directors attend a Governance Development Weekend (the next in Jan/March 2026).

What you can expect from us...

We are Right There, a charity that recently celebrated our 200th anniversary. We provide tailored support for people, at home, and in the community. We are here for people who are living with the effects of homelessness, poverty, substance use, or family breakdowns.

About the Role:

As a Support Worker, you’ll work as part of a team in providing safe, secure, supported accommodation for the people who use our services. You’ll do this by providing practical and emotional support and encouraging them to achieve their own personal outcomes in all aspects of their daily lives.

Main Responsibilities:

This Support Worker Nights role working at Kilmarnock Bank Street Service involves working on a rota covering set nightshifts per week, including select weekend work. This role is 33 hours per week. The Support Worker will:

  • work as part of a team providing safe, secure, supported accommodation for homeless people.
  • support, review, monitor and evaluate through our case management system, to achieve a positive person-centred outcome for the people we work with in line with organisational, statutory and legislative requirements.
  • maintain and update all recording systems and documentation in line with relevant policies, procedures and practice guidelines, including the occupancy agreement, within required timeframes.
  • provide, plan and facilitate key work meetings, key work sessions, meetings, reviews and other internal/external meetings in conjunction with the person’s support plan.
  • provide general advocacy and advice to the people we support, including assistance to enable them to meet the conditions of their occupancy agreements.

About You:

  • To join us, you need to have a genuine passion for helping people.
  • Ideally, possess 1 year of experience of working with vulnerable people and challenging behaviour which can be from personal, voluntary and/or professional experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to undertake care practice in accordance with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) code of practice, National Care Standards, Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care and the Associations policies and procedures.
  • Ability to relate empathetically to people and recognise their right to choice and independence.
  • Ability to work flexibly and as a lone worker.
  • Able to use Microsoft or equivalent applications competently.
  • Ideally, hold and SVQ level 2 or above and be willing to work towards an SVQ 3.
