We are seeking a new Support and Development Worker to join our diverse Community Mental Health and Wellbeing team in the Guided Self Help service.

Guided Self-Help is a one-to-one support service that guides people to access self-help materials. Sessions are delivered in person, online or over the phone. The service is based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Counselling (IPC) and is for anyone aged 18 and over experiencing mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression, stress or sleep problems.

A Guided Self-Help Support and Development Worker provides support to empower people to make positive changes in their life now and going forward.

If you have 2 years of experience of supporting people to improve their mental health and wellbeing or personal experience of self-managing your own mental health difficulties within the Guided Self-Help approach, we’d love to hear from you!

As a service, we are expanding our capacity to better meet the needs of women who have experienced domestic abuse. Candidates should have good communication skills and a passion for supporting recovery from domestic abuse.

The successful applicants will have at least SVQ Level III or equivalent level of qualification in health and social care or other relevant subject, or a willingness to work towards a qualification.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high degree of motivation and have the ability to work on their own as well as part of a team. An ability to cover on-call is an advantage (additional payments are made for this role).

Role Overview

As our Treasurer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of South West Community Transport. You will oversee our financial management, reporting, and planning, ensuring we continue to support our communities by offering vital transport services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the preparation of the annual budget and annual financial statements to the Board

• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and guidelines.

• Liaise with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.

• Provide financial advice to the board and support strategic planning.

• Monitor cash flow and manage financial risks.

• Present the latest financial position at quarterly Board meetings (balance sheet, cash flow, fundraising performance etc)

• Liaise with relevant staff and trustees to ensure that effective financial procedures and controls are in place

What we need you to bring

  • Appetite to contribute to positive change to this service, and commitment to delivering care with empathy and compassion.
  • Driving licence and access to a car as this role requires travel across the community.

The Organisation

Stepping Stones is a user led organisation with a remit to support people who experience common mental health problems and who reside in West Dunbartonshire. Stepping Stones is managed by an experienced team of staff with support from the Board of Directors and is mainly funded by the West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership. The organisation has been providing services for nearly 35 years and has a range of supports available for people aged 16 years and older. Stepping Stones is dedicated to inclusivity and co-production, enabling its members to develop services that have a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing.

The Role

At Stepping Stones our person centred counsellors offer talking therapy that can help people to take greater control of their life and improve their confidence. Counselling does not specifically focus on the past or present but instead it allows the person to turn the focus on what is important to them now. The Counsellor will carry a caseload of approximately 8 members per week, as well as completing member assessments and required administrative tasks. Members usually receive support for 8-12 weeks with possible extensions. Counselling appointments are delivered in person across West Dunbartonshire sites, as well as via telephony and video calls. Our Counsellors work within our services delivery framework, they offer support including - Empathic emotional support, Non-judgemental support, Confidence building, Personal development and potentially Therapeutic group work. All our counselling work is delivered in line with BACP/COSCA ethical frameworks and codes of practice. Our Counsellors are positive, resilient and skilled workers who are required to have relevant qualifications and experience in delivering person centred and collaborative services in mental health and social care.

Could you use your strategic financial skills to help us advance the wellbeing of everyone in the UK?

Carnegie UK is a charity which has been working to improve wellbeing in the UK and Ireland for over 100 years. We seek to influence policy and practice at a systemic level, building on evidence and research to argue for change.

Role

Working closely with the CEO and the Head of Finance, the lead trustee for finance will take a lead role for the Board in financial strategy, bringing an external perspective and supportive challenge to our financial planning and management.

Candidates should have a strong interest in the Carnegie UK’s work to promote wellbeing, as well as a strong background in finance and/or accounting, preferably with an understanding of charity finance. You will operate at a strategic level, as interested in the influence and impact of our investments as you are in our annual accounts. You will be willing to represent the organisation and able to commit the necessary time to governance.

The anticipated time commitment includes preparation for and chairing of quarterly Finance Committee meetings held online, as well as preparation for and attendance at quarterly Board meetings (two a year in Scotland, one in London and one elsewhere in the UK or Ireland). The Chair of the Finance Committee is also a member of the Audit and Risk Committee, which meets online twice a year.

The lead finance trustee is also asked to make themselves available for an annual in-person meeting with our Investment Manager, and for ad hoc consultation by the CEO and Head of Finance.
