Support Worker

The Service

Based in Ardler Dundee we support five individuals within their own home providing twenty-four-hour intensive outreach support for adults with a learning disability, physical disability, visually impaired and individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Three of the individuals we support have Motability cars. There are four male and one female individual in Birkdale. This is all individual accommodation apart from one house that is a shared accommodation with two individuals. All individuals have their own tenancy. The service comprises of six houses, all close by to each other and all with garden areas to the front and back. Sleepover facilities are contained within one of the houses; there is also a waking night staff member on shift every night. All of the houses have assistive technology which enables staff to support and monitor individuals in an unobtrusive way in order to maintain a degree of privacy.

The Role

To support the individuals with;

  • Personal care, including toileting, bathing, showering and dressing
  • Medication support such as administering medication
  • Attending medical appointments
  • Emotional and behavioural support
  • Accessing local community and supporting with social activities
  • Daily life skills (menu planning, cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping)
  • Support to manage finances and money

You will

  • Have a positive, flexible attitude, with an encouraging nature
  • Have excellent communication skills including verbal and written
  • Be highly organised with the ability to work on own initiative
  • Have the ability to react efficiently and effectively in emergency situations
  • Possess an SVQ 2 in Health and Social Care or have the ability to work towards this qualification
  • Be flexible with shift patterns; weekend work and sleepovers are a requirement of this post
  • Be required to obtain registration with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of taking up the post

Martingale Outreach provides Housing Support and Personal Care services to individuals in the Dundee Area. Individuals live in their own tenancies or with family. Their needs cover a wide range, predominantly mental health issues, learning disability, autism, drug and alcohol issues and dementia.

David Street Outreach Housing Support and Personal Care services are provided to individuals in the Broughty Ferry & Dundee area. Individuals live in their own tenancies or with family. Their needs cover a wide range, predominantly learning disability, autism, and mental health.

All individuals require support to maintain their tenancies, keeping their homes safe and secure. Enabling them to live a good quality of life, and supporting them in the recovery process.

The Role

To support the individuals with;

  • Emotional Support and support with recovery process
  • Promotion of positive mental health including coping strategies
  • Medication support such as administering medication
  • Accessing community based resourses
  • Daily life skills (menu planning, cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping)
  • Support to manage finances and money.
  • Maintian personal health and hygiene including personal care
  • Support with other issues that arise

You Will
