What we are looking for...

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team.

You will play a key role in leading and delivering the best care and support for children. As an experienced leader you will work with key strategic partners in Forth Valley and Edinburgh to design and deliver services and models of care that offer the required support for children, young people and families.

You will oversee the leadership and management of our established and developing services including our newly opened mother and child recovery house; our community services which keep children and families together; our youth support services; and our intensive perinatal and volunteer led perinatal support services. You will also work with commissioners to identify future needs and growth opportunities.

You will have demonstrable management level experience in social care within the public, private or voluntary sector. You will thrive on building positive relationships with commissioners, local government, NHS, other third sector partners and trusts to identify opportunities for growth and additional funding. You will also be driven to influence local and national strategy, policy and practice to the benefit of vulnerable people.

You will hold a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 9 or above plus a management qualification at SCQF level 8 or above.

We are looking to recruit 2 Residential Workers to join our team in Inverness, you will work 37.5 hours per week working in a residential house which is home for up to five young people. We have a core team of Residential Workers who support our young people, helping them to achieve and overcome the challenges they face. At Aberlour, we believe that every child deserves the change to flourish regardless of their background and the circumstances that have brought them to live with Aberlour. Working therapeutically with the young people our aim is to help the young people to develop their confidence and self-worth and therefore to maximise their potential and opportunities for living fulfilled and happy lives. As a Residential Worker, you will play a fundamental role in ensuring that our young people are working towards their goals through supporting them with different daily activities. These activities can include college, different hobbies and attending fun groups. Not without its challenges and demands, this is a highly rewarding role.

This service operates a residential rota and, as part of this, you will be expected to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Shifts are set on a monthly basis, however may be altered to suit the needs of the service.

About Bridges Partnership - Glasgow

The Bridges Partnership is jointly provided by Aberlour Glasgow Family Support Service and Shelter Scotland to provide support to mothers and their children living in the North East of Glasgow areas who are or have been affected by domestic abuse.

What we are looking for....

We are looking for a Child and Family Worker to join our team, working 37.5 hours per week. As this post includes an unsocial hours allowance, you are required to be flexible with your approach and available to work weekends, evenings and public holidays to meet the needs of the families you would support.

As a Child and Family Worker within our Bridges Partnership project you will;

  • Undertake risk assessment and work to develop safety plans
  • Advocate in statutory meetings, court settings and with other agencies on behalf of women and children who have or are experiencing domestic abuse.
  • Using the safe and together model, you will develop reports to be used in courts in relation to civil and criminal proceedings.
  • Work in partnership with the parents, either on a 1:1 basis or in groups to enhance their parenting skills and build their confidence
  • Work with children and parents in a therapeutic and trauma-based approach to help them reach their full potential.
  • Provide housing information and assistance
  • Inform women and children of their rights
  • Signposting and helping each mother to access additional services as needed.

You will have relevant experience and a sound knowledge of domestic abuse and the impact on the children and adult survivor and relevant theory in attachment and parenting. You should be able to demonstrate an understanding and commitment to women and children's rights. You will hold a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above. It is desired that you are IDDA trained or are willing to work towards this.

Aberlour Sycamore Services’ vision is to provide warm, loving homes for children where everyone learns, laughs, grows into their future and is treasured always. Sycamore services are widely recognised in Scotland for providing a range of quality therapeutic residential houses for some of the most vulnerable children and young people in the country. The Service is a national resource and as such receives referrals from throughout Scotland.

What we are looking for....

We are looking for an individual who can integrate seamlessly into our existing team, working alongside it and relief adults to support excellent service delivery. We are looking for a Residential Worker to work 37.5 hours per week to work within our homes in Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy. You will work as part of a residential rota including early, late, sleepovers and weekend shifts. You will have a knowledge and understanding of the importance of attachment, trauma and how this can impact on an individual’s development. At times our children express their distress through their behaviour and the role can be emotionally and physically challenging; we are therefore looking for someone who is resilient, understands that behaviour is a means of communication and is trauma responsive.

You will be skilled in building therapeutic relationships with the children, young people and young adults to enable them to feel safe, loved and cared for.

You must have the ability to quickly build your relationships with the adults within the house. The nature of the role is such that whilst joining a team for one house, you may be asked to support one of our other homes and you may also be supporting young people to attend school or participate in other learning programmes. You must therefore be able to quickly adapt to the different working environments.

You will be comfortable with working within Aberlour’s culture embracing respect, integrity, innovation and the ability to challenge. You must be able to be an exceptional role model for other staff and the young person.

Undertaking the role of Residential Worker will afford you the opportunity to develop and build on a range of transferrable skills which are valued in a range of employment: you will be able to demonstrate excellent flexibility and adaptability with exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to work with different teams and different children, young people and young adults living within our Sycamore Houses.

We are looking to recruit a Residential Worker (Nights) to join our Sycamore Services team in Kirkcaldy. This role will predominately be to support the children overnight, with the exception of joining Team Meetings, Consultations and Training, where required, during day shift hours. You should be enthusiastic, warm, playful, accepting, curious and empathetic and be able to bring these qualities to your work with children and young people. Our approach is to work in a therapeutic way to support the vulnerable children and young people who live in our residential houses.

Working nights, you will play a crucial role, providing security to the young people if any of them are unable to sleep or become unsettled during the night. This can be particularly difficult for the young people and your ability to adopt a calm and comforting approach is a key skill to help them through these difficult experiences.

We are looking for people to join our relief pool who are passionate about supporting children and young people. The children and young people who live in our houses have experienced significant trauma in their young lives and our aim is to create loving, nurturing family homes where they feel safe and cared for.

Our relief workers play a crucial role in supporting our teams. This work is offered on a casual, hourly paid basis to provide cover during staff absence and/or particularly busy periods. Work will be offered across our four residential houses in Fife – two of these are in Kirkcaldy, one in Dunfermline and one in Markinch.

Members of our relief pool have a varied range of backgrounds and often work in different areas of the workforce. Although experience in child-care is ideal, we would also like to hear from people who may have skills from their work experience in different sectors which would be transferrable and provide a good basis from which to learn and develop their skills, utilising the range of training we provide.
