What to Wear
Creative Movement: comfortable, moveable clothes and bare feet, if a student chooses to wear a leotard please select one that is plain and is a solid color. Hair secured out of the face.
Ballet Attire for Ladies: plain, solid color leotard with pink or tan ballet shoes with matching tights. Hair secured out of the face.
Ballet Attire for Gentlemen: black, navy or gray tights or bike shorts with a fitted white T-shirt (tucked in), thin white socks and white ballet shoes. Hair secured out of the face.
Other Movement Classes: fitted movable clothes and bare feet, leotard and tights are best but not required. Hair secured away from face.
There are many places to purchase dance wear, the internet, big box stores, etc. Good Moves would recommend that shoes be fitted by a professional at a dance wear shop. This is particularly important for beginners. We have always had great service from our friends at Center Stage II Dancewear. They are worth the drive.
When purchasing shoes for a beginner we also would recommend the following Bloch’s Dansoft. It is an economical and quality shoe and its elastic is already sewn on.
We also think Bloch produces quality leotards at a good price. For a beginner, a short sleeve cotton leotard can work for the entire season, Fall through Spring.
Bike shorts for Gentleman are more difficult to find. Here are two online retailer that regularly carry cotton bike shorts: Hanna Andersson and Fleece Farm.
