The Classes
Creative Movement: This is a class for our youngest students age 3. It explores the joys of music and dance in a studio/classroom setting. Class size limited to 8.
Pre-Ballet: Pre-ballet is a class for students ages 4 & 5. It uses creative exercises to explore movement and introduces the first steps of ballet. Class size limited to 8.
Ballet I: This is a class for students ages 6 & 7 with limited or no dance experience. It teaches the fundamentals of ballet, and continues to nurture creative exploration of movement.
Ballet II: These classes are offered for students ages 7 and older. It refines the fundamentals of ballet, adding intermediate steps and concepts. For students at this level, two days of study per week are recommended.
Ballet III: This class is offered for students ages 9 and older. It is designed to continue on from intermediate work for younger students but can provide an opportunity for older beginners. Students at this level generally take three or more classes per week.
Pre-Pointe/Variations: This class is for students ages 9 and older who take at least two other dance classes per week. It focuses on exercises to prepare the female dancer for pointe work and introduces dances from historic classical ballet repertory.
Athletic Movement for Boys: This class is for boys ages 8 and older. It presents dance exercises that enhance athletic performance and foster the love of movement.
Tween & Teen Movement: This class is for ages 10 and older who may be beginners or students who may not want to study multiple days per week. It combines athletic movement exercises, ballet and modern techniques to provide and introduction to dance or continued study of movement.
Modern: This class is taught in O’Donnell modern technique, a classical modern vocabulary developed by May O’Donnell. It is taught on an intermediate/advanced level according to the attendance of the class. This class meets at either the In-Town or North Georgia location according to the travel schedule of the Consort, Good Moves’ pre-professional repertory ensemble.
Stretch, Ballet & Boogie: This adult class is for those who want to move, experience the grace of ballet and then let it all hang out, a great hour of fun and dancing.
Morning Movement: This adult class is a combination of thoughtful stretching, ballet and modern, a focused and fun way to start the day.
